heroism" during the intervention at Vera Cruz,Mexico, 21-22
April 1914.
Chief Turret Captain DeSomer was then serving in USS Utah
(Battleship # 31).

The letter is signed by Secretary of the Navy Josephus Daniels.

Lieutenant Commander Abraham DeSomer, USN (Retired)
Shakes hands with President John F. Kennedy at the White House,
Washington, D.C., during ceremonies commemorating the 100th Anniversary
of the Medal of Honor, 2 June 1962.
DeSomer had been awarded the Medla of Honor for heroism during
the April 1914 Vera Cruz operation.
