Removing equipment from ex-USS Galveston (CLG-3)

"Left to right: IC2 Forrest and ET1 Askew disconnecting a surface search radar repeater from the ex-USS Galveston, CLG-3. This repeater, along with others will be tied to an AN/SPS T3 radar simulator and a small computer to supply the variables like range, bearing and speed. These equipments when used together will produce a radar picture equal to the real thing." The items removed from the ship were to be installed at the Naval Amphibious School's Surface Warfare Officer School simulator. (quoted portion is taken from the original caption).
Photographed by PH1 Tom Ryals, of the Pacific Fleet Amphibious Force Public Affairs Office, circa 1973-1975.
