S.S. Santa Catalina
(American Freighter, 1913)

In port on a snowy day, possibly when she was inspected by the Third Naval District on 14 December 1917.
This ship was taken over by the Navy in December 1917 and renamed Black Hawk on the 26th of that month. Converted to a repair ship, she was placed in commission on 15 May 1918 as USS Black Hawk (ID # 2140). In 1920 she was reclassified as a destroyer tender, with hull number AD-9, and served actively until 1946.
