Celeritas
(American Motor Boat, 1916)

Underway at high speed, circa 1916-1917.
Photographed by Edwin Levick, New York.
Built by Robert Jacobs of City Island New York, and owned by R.B. Meyer of New York City, this fast (30 miles per hour) pleasure craft was acquired by the Navy on 28 May 1917 and commissioned one day later as USS Celeritas (SP-665). Following World War I service she was stricken on 17 May 1919 and sold on 25 June 1919.
