USS South Bend (ID # 4019)
Halftone reproduction of a photograph taken on the ship's foredeck,
looking forward from slightly to starboard of the center line,
1919.
This image was published at that time as one of ten photographs
in a "Souvenir Folder" of views of and on board USS
South Bend. The publisher was A.M. Simon, 324 E. 23rd
St., New York City.
Note the heavy kingposts, with a Sailor on a ladder in the foreground,
and the small deck houses and life boats added as part of South
Bend's conversion to a troop transport. The deck house at
right is marked "Latrine".
