Panoramic photograph of U.S. Navy and Naval Reserve Force Seamen and Firemen undergoing training by Chief Boatswain's Mate Philip Andrew Carey, USN (in dark uniform, holding cutlass, in the center foreground of the image) on the Marine Corps drill field, summer 1918. The U.S. Marine Barracks has been blocked out in the rear of this scene. These trainees are carrying M1903 "Springfield" rifles.
