Annie B. Embry (American Barge, 1905).
May have seen U.S. Navy service in 1918-1919 with ID # 2401, perhaps
as Coal Barge # 421
Annie B. Embry, a 431 gross ton wooden-hulled barge,
was built at Elkton, Maryland, in 1905. Employed in the coal trade
out of Norfolk, Virginia, she was inspected for possible U.S.
Navy acquisition in March 1918, assigned ID # 2401. Ordered to
be taken over in May, she may have become the Navy's Coal Barge
# 421. If this is the case, she was taken out of service sometime
before the fall of 1919.
This page features all the views we have concerning the
barge Annie B. Embry, which may have seen U.S. Navy service
in 1918-1919.
