Jack Scully (Harbor Tug, 1891).
Previously named H.M.C. Smith

Jack Scully, a 98 gross ton harbor tug, was built in 1891 at Camden, New Jersey, for commercial employment. She was called H.M.C. Smith prior to receiving the name Jack Scully. The tug was surveyed in January 1918 for possible Navy use during World War I and received the identification number 2289, but was not taken over.

Jack Scully
(American Harbor Tug, 1891)

In port, possibly when inspected by the Third Naval District on 31 January 1918. Her name is visible on both sides of her bow, and she flies a flag that appears to say "NE and CB Assn"
Previously named H.M.C. Smith, this tug was assigned the identification # 2289 after her January 1918 survey, but was not taken over by the Navy.
