Phoenix Bridge, a 3658 gross ton steamship, was built at Newark, New Jersey, in 1918 as part of the Nation's large World War I merchant ship building program. Completed in October 1918, she was intended for operation by the Naval Overseas Transportation Service, and assigned the registry ID number 3767, but was not taken over and remained in civilian hands.
This page features our only views of the freighter Phoenix Bridge.

Note: The Ships' Histories Branch of the Naval Historical
Center holds another view of the steamer Phoenix Bridge,
taken while she was tied up alongside a pier, circa 1918. This
photograph, which is of very poor quality, shows her from off
the bow and slightly to port. Hardly anything can be seen of
her superstructure, or hull aft of amidships. |
