U.S. Navy Freight Lighter Number 60, 1917-1922.
Later YF-60
Freight Lighter Number 60, a 250-ton covered barge,
was acquired by the Navy in 1917. She served in the Norfolk, Virginia,
area during and beyond World War I, and was renamed YF-60
in 1920. This service craft was sold by the Navy in 1922.

U.S. Navy Freight Lighter Number 60 (Later YF-60)
Photographed circa 1917-1922, while being maneuvered by an unidentified
harbor tug.
This lighter was acquired by the Navy in 1917 from the Merchants
and Miners Transportation Company. She was sold out of service
in 1922.
The original print is in National Archives' Record Group 19-LCM.

Note: This photograph was filed in the RG 19-LCM folder
for Murray (SP-1438), a 55-foot motor boat. The original
print was probably acquired when the unidentified tug seen in
the photo was considered for acquisition by the Navy during World
