USS Herreshoff # 309 (SP-1218), 1917-1918

USS Herreshoff # 309, a 25-ton patrol craft, was built in 1917 at Bristol, Rhode Island, with the intention that her owner would make her available for war service. She was taken over by the Navy in October 1917 and placed in commission the following month. For the next year, Herreshoff # 309 operated in the Long Island Sound area on section patrol duties. No longer needed after the Armistice, she was returned to her owner at the end of 1918.

This page features our only views of USS Herreshoff # 309.
