USS LST-792 (1944-1946)

USS LST-792, a 2366-ton LST-511 class tank landing ship, was built at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She was commissioned in early October 1944 and soon went to the Pacific. In February-June 1945 LST-792 took part in the conquests of Iwo Jima and Okinawa. Following Japan's surrender she was employed on occupation duties before returning to the United States. USS LST-792 was decommissioned in late April 1946 and sold at the end of October of that year.

This page features the only view we have concerning USS LST-792.
