Mary B. Garner, a 252 gross ton "Menhaden Fisherman" type fishing vessel built at Baltimore, Maryland in 1912, was purchased by the Navy in late April 1917 and placed in commission in mid-May. During the remainder of World War I, and for several months after the November 1918 Armistice, she was attached to the Mine Sweeping Squadron based at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. USS Mary B. Garner was decommissioned in mid-May 1919 and stricken early in July.
