USS Narada (SP-161), 1917-1919.
Previously a civilian yacht named Semiramis, Margarita and Narada.

USS Narada a 505 gross ton yacht, was built at Leith, Scotland, in 1889 as a civilian pleasure craft. Prior to World War I, she carried the names Semiramis, Margarita and Narada. She was acquired by the Navy in late June 1917 and placed in commission in October of that year. For the rest of World War I, Narada operated out of New London, Connecticut, on experimental submarine signal duty. Decommissioned in mid-January 1919, she was returned to her owner, H.D. Walters of Baltimore, Maryland, a few weeks later.

This page features our only views of the yacht Narada and USS Narada (SP-161).
