USS Naushon, a 135 gross ton patrol vessel, was built in 1895 at Chester, Pennsylvania, as a steam yacht. Also named Oneonota and Norman while employed as a civilian pleasure craft in the decades prior to World War I, she was acquired by the Navy at the end of August 1917 and placed in commission in February 1918. For the remainder of the First World War Naushon served in the waters of the Seventh Naval District, which included the U.S. Gulf coast region. She was stricken from the Navy Register in June 1919 and sold in November 1920.
This page features the only view we have concerning USS Naushon (SP-517).
