USS Paul Hamilton, a 1190-ton Clemson class destroyer, was built at San Francisco, California, and commissioned in September 1920. She spent the rest of the decade operating along the U.S. Pacific Coast, with occasional trips out of the area to participate in U.S. Fleet exercises. The destroyer was decommissioned in January 1930 and scrapped in 1931.
USS Paul Hamilton was named in honor of Paul Hamilton (1762-1816), who was Secretary of the Navy in 1809-1812.
