    Troops on deck, wearing life jackets, as the transport passed through the submarine zone en route to France. A hand-written inscription on the reverse of the original print dates this photo in October 1917 and identifies the troops as part of the Rainbow Division.

A hand-written inscription on the reverse of the original print for Photo # NH 41875 (taken at the same time as this one) dates this photo in October 1917 and identifies the troops as part of the Rainbow Division.
