Salvage Barge Salvor (ID # 3418), 1918-1919.
Originally the civilian derrick barge Salvor.
Salvor, a 180 gross ton derrick barge, was built in
1899 at Boston, Massachusetts, for commercial service. Employed
prior to World War I for salvage work, she continued to be used
in that capacity after the Navy took her over in July 1918. During
the next ten months Salvor was stationed in the vicinities
of Boston, Massachusetts, and New London, Connecticut. She was
sold in May 1919.

Salvor (American Salvage Barge, 1899)
Photographed prior to her World War I Naval Service.
She was acquired by the Navy on 12 July 1918 and served in non-commissioned
status as Salvor (ID # 3418) until sold on 22 May 1919.
The original print is in National Archives' Record Group 19-LCM.
