USS SC-508, a 95-ton 110-foot submarine chaser, was built at Camden, New Jersey. Commissioned in March 1942 as PC-508 and soon renamed SC-508, she conducted initial tests and trials in Chesapeake Bay, then was assigned to the Eastern Sea Frontier with a home yard at Charleston, South Carolina. She subsequently served at the Submarine Chaser Training Center, Miami, Florida, and was assigned to the Eighth Fleet in June 1943 for service in the Mediterranean area. In March 1944, SC-508 was transferred to the French Navy in North Africa under Lend-lease. She was sold to France in March 1949 and served into the 1960s. Her name in the French Navy was initially CH-95, later changed to P 703.
