    Troops on board ship
    , circa the last half of 1918

    Photographed from the forward superstructure of a U.S. Navy destroyer, whose port side midships 4"50 gun is at left.
    At least some of the troops on board the ship are members of an African-American unit.
    This ship's structure appears identical to that of USS Henry R. Mallory (ID # 1280).
    Note crates of cargo on the main deck, and pattern camouflage.
    The original photograph was printed on post card ("AZO") stock.
